Waylon joined the army on February 22, 2005 (his 25th birthday).  His basic training was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  He spent the night of the 22nd at a hotel in Mountain View.  On the 23rd, he reported for duty, and left the San Jose airport to fly to Dallas, then St. Louis.  He then boarded a bus for a 2 hour trip to Ft. Leonard Wood.  He arrived at Fort Leonard Wood shortly after midnight on February 24.  They fed him and he completed paperwork.  He went to bed at 2 am, and woke up at 4 am.  He was duly initiated into the Army!  He spent the next week in Reception where he completed paperwork, received a haircut and vaccinations, was issued his uniforms, and waited around for a looooooong time.  On Friday, March 4th, he began Basic Combat Training.  He graduated on May 6th and moved to Fort Huachuca, Arizona to begin training as a Counterintelligence Agent (MOS 97B).

Because he has little time to correspond with all of his family and friends, this website will allow you  to follow his adventures.  Check back frequently to read new letters and see new pictures.  Also, keep writing to him - he really enjoys your correspondence.  Hopefully he will have more personal time at Fort Huachuca to write back to you.

His new address is:

PFC Bader, Waylon

E Company 309 MI Bn - Bldg. 80406 - 2nd Platoon

Fort Huachuca, Arizona 85613

(MI Bn stands for Military Intelligence Battalion)

This is a picture of Wayne Harvey, Travis and Waylon.  Wayne is a retired Army veteran and their uncle's brother.  He bought the uniforms for the boys. I'm guessing they were about 7 and 10 years old at the time.
